What We’re Learning!

Math – The class will take the test for Chapter 3 later next week. Chapter 3 focused on addition and subtraction facts, as well as strategies to learn those facts.  Chapter 4 will focus on 2 digit addition with regrouping. Please continue to encourage your child to study their facts using Reflex Math, games, or flash cards.  

Reading – The class is learning about retelling and what a proper retelling looks like.  The students are still using their decoding strategies to become better readers.

 

Writing We started our Persuasive Writing unit this month. This is always a fun unit because students love to convince adults to do what they want.

Science – The children continue to explore the properties of pebbles, sand, and silt.  They are enjoying the hands on investigations and working with each other.

Social Studies – The class has learned about landforms and discussed Veteran’s Day.

Teacher Tip

Ask your child to name different landforms.

During reading, have your child retell the important

parts of the story.
