                                           January 20 – 29, 2016

These Weeks We . . .

·      Came back a little sad after our Patriots lost, we still love them and will look forward to next year – they were so close

·      Started reading groups with Mrs. O’Shea

·      Started tapping sounds in our CVC words (consonant-vowel-consonant) and blending them together

·      Finished up Chapter 10 in math 3-Dimensional shapes and positional words then started Chapter 11 on Measurement

·      Brought home my 1st report card, didn’t I do great!

·      At Writer’s Workshop continued working on our persuasive writing and then drew and wrote about something we like to do in school, ASK ME what I chose

·      Read the book “Where is my Snowflake” and got our own copy

·      Were sentence makers and illustrators “I went in the igloo.”

·      During Reader’s Workshop we have been using all our super powers to read independently and with our partner, ASK ME who my partner is

·      Practiced reading and writing our word wall words by rolling a dice and writing the matching one in a graph

·      Looked through different alphabet books to see what is the same and what is different about them, made our own class alphabet book, ASK ME what letter I made

·      Learned a bit about blends and digraphs at the beginning of words then hunted in our book bins for some in our books

·      Rolled and labeled a snowman

·      Matched words to pictures from our January Good Morning song then sang it for Mrs. O’Shea, ASK ME to sing it to you

·      At Open Circle we discussed dealing with annoying behaviors and teasing
