These Weeks We . . .                           March 7 – 18, 2016

·      saw the Pumpernickel Puppets and wrote in our journal about it – thank you TPA for the presentation

·      practiced hearing and filling in the middle vowel sound for CVC words

·      graphed cubes and turned them into an addition sentence

·      used our magnetic alphabet boards to spell CVC words, and had a spelling bee for our Word Wall Words on our dry erase boards

·      at Writer’s Workshop we are working on “How to” books, ASK ME what mine is about

·      finished adding words to our word wall, attached is a list of all our words, ASK ME to read them to you

·      had reading group with Mrs. O’Shea and Independent Reading, ASK ME what I am reading about, we added “extra strength” power to our reading super powers and talked about what it looks like and is to be an “avid” reader as opposed to a “blah” reader

·      in math we finished Chapter 12 and did great on our Chapter test which was about sorting and displaying the information in graph form

·      started Chapter 5 in math, we will learn how to show, and act out addition

·      sounded out CVC words and wrote them in shamrocks

·      had a visit from Walpole Dental who talked to us about taking good care of our teeth, and eating healthy snacks and sent us home with a bag of treats

·      in science we discussed what our class tree looks like in the winter then drew and wrote about it in our science journal

·      celebrated St. Patrick’s Day, heard the story Liam the Leprechaun then made our own leprechaun face

Mark your calendars, more information will be coming on these special events -

* Thursday, March 31^st is Math Night at Freeman Kennedy, 6-7:00 math games, 7-7:30 make your own sundae

* Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences will be on April 5^th (afternoon) and April 7^th (evening), those are both ½ days and we schedule them the same time as your fall conference

* Wednesday, May 4^th, 1:45-2:30 our class will be having a Poetry Party and you are invited

* Last day of kindergarten will be Tuesday, June 14^th it will be a full day; our Kindergarten Memory Show will be on Friday, June 10^th, at 9:30.
