These Weeks We . . . November 30 - December 11, 2015 · met our last 4 letters of the alphabet Qq, Xx, Yy and Zz, ASK ME their sound and key picture · welcomed a new month, December, and a new Good Morning song, and new spots on the rug · traced and cut out many of our hands, ASK ME what we used them for · talked a lot about gifts and giving, and are very proud that our class collected $144.00 for the “Giving Project”, thank you for your generosity and their hard work · discussed the difference in gifts that we “need” and gifts that we “want” · did a T.L.C. of colorful gifts. They are in the hallway where we are all nestled in our beds · made ornaments for our classroom “tree for all seasons” · we are reading many versions of the Gingerbread Man fairy tale, ASK ME which one I liked best · in math we started learning about and discussing shapes · colored and read our own book called “My Cookie”, ASK ME what it is about, and what our new word wall word was – “has” · at Open Circle talked about cooperation and including others to play with us when we see someone looking like they would like to join us · during Reading Workshop we have been practicing using our seven “Super Reading” powers to practice our reading. We now have our own tub of books we take to the table to read independently, WE ARE SUPER READERS! · added more new words to our word wall, “look,” “it,” “mom,” “dad,” and “love” we now have 20 words on the word wall · at Writer’s Workshop we are continuing to work on our label books, we have added a new holiday label book to our chooses, in label books we draw a picture of something then write the word the best we can, saying the word slowly to hear all the sounds in it that we have learned, ASK ME what label books I am working on
