These Weeks We . . .                       March 30 – April 10, 2015        

·      practiced hearing and writing our vowel sounds in a “Pot of Gold” game, and a short “o” paper

·      painted a rainbow fish

·      had Independent Reading and Guided Reading – ASK ME to read the books I brought home

·      April is Poetry Month – we made a pocket folder to put our poems into and everyday we read a new poem to add to our pocket – Shout!; Pussy Willows; Finger Paint and Kids Rule! – we colored and made pussy willows with cotton balls and of course we sang the poem “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” and Home Run on Monday for the Red Sox opening day

·      finished working on our “How to . . .” books during Writer’s Workshop and shared our favorite with the class, ASK ME to share it with you

·      started to write our own poems at Writer’s Workshop, ASK ME about filling my heart with things to write poems about

·      in math we finished Chapter 5 on addition within 10, and started Chapter 6 on subtraction within 10

·      continued writing and tapping our sounds for CVC words – on papers, dry erase boards and games

·      have been illustrating and writing about our weekend in our journals

·      played ending sound bingo – we filled out a bingo board with letters and had to listen to the ending sound of a word to cross it off for bingo

·      at Open Circle we discussed feelings, especially angry and ways we should handle that feeling

·      finished our “Signs of Spring” book

·      played “Top-It” with number cards to 50

·      in science we worked at changing the shape of wood by sanding it and then investigated sawdust and wood shaving

 

F.Y.I. – Mark your calendars

* Next Friday, April 17^th, is our “Pajama Day”, students can wear or bring their pajamas to school and change when they get here

* Wednesday, June 17^th, 9:30 will be our Kindergarten Memory Show

* Thursday, June 18^th last day of Kindergarten, it will be a regular day
